Happy Birthday to Me

Today it's my birthday, so I thought I'd write a blog entry. However, I don't think I really have anything to say. So, maybe I should take the opportunity to let people know that there's been a big change in my life and I am currently in Arkansas, where I shall remain indefinitely. I'm not going to go into details, because I don't feel like it.

Perhaps I should reflect today on the direction my life is taking and what I really want – what I'm 'here for'. After all, I am now thirty-four and still haven't really got a clue what I'm doing with my life. If I died today, well, I suppose I wouldn't have lost anything, anyway. But… there has long been something inside me that wants to get out, to be expressed, to find itself a place in this world and live. It is still inside me. It has not been expressed. It has not found a place in this world. It has not lived.

My birthday wish is for that thing inside me finally to be born.

Well, happy my-birthday to everyone!

  1. Thank you.I wasn’t being intentionally cryptic, except in so far as there are some aspects of my personal life I don’t want to write about on my blog. Like, why I’m in Arkansas. Maybe later. I can say I never expected to be in Arkansas this time last year, or even, say, three months ago. Who does expect to be in Arkansas if they weren’t born there?Anyway, I’m having an interesting time. Maybe I’ll even find something to write about Arkansas on this blog.

  2. In Arkansas, indefinitely. H’m. I can say for sure I’d never expect to be there, but then again I’ve never been anywhere, so that stands to reason.Happy birthday Quentin. May your unborn thing find a route towards being. And I look forward to hearing about Arkansas…it’s a jump from Japan, certainly…–M

  3. Thank you.I’m not sure if I have anything of interest to say about Arkansas as yet, which is not to say that my time here hasn’t been interesting, because it has. Somehow, though, I feel recently like I have little to say, hence the lack of blog entries.

  4. A happy, if late, red-necked birthday to you Quentin.I happen to be exactly 11 months older than you… and I will probably never set a foot in Arkansas (but who knows?)

  5. Hello ElHI. When you say exactly, does that mean to the day? May the 25th, 1971? I’m back in England now, unexpectedly. I might write some more entries in my blog later, but I have a lot to do at the moment.

  6. Yes Quentin, but in fact, I am 13 months older, that means my birthday is March 25th, 1971. I used to be quite good in maths: Alzheimer is coming soon! 😉
