Noise

Well, continuing in the Dorothy/lyrics theme, there is a new Dorothy song in the offing. Pete sent me the link to the rough version of it last week. Please feel free to listen for yourself.

The lyrics, which I wrote some time ago, are as follows:

Noise

We’re not written in the digital immortal
We haven’t gone through
That particular portal
In terms of the Age of Information
We’re mere boys
We’re noise.

We’re plebs and we’re chavs
We’re noise.
We’re nothing but boys,
We’re noise.

When they sort the wheat from the chaff
Which will be them
And which will be us?
Well, you must be having a laugh.
We’re only the chainsaw roar of –
Noise.
We have no credentials
We’re merely ephemeral
Noise.

We’re embodied and trolleyed
We’re noise.

We’re Sodom and Gomorrah,
We’re noise.

You won’t find us with Google,
We’ve gone through a loophole,
We’re noise.

We’re brutally 3-D
And beautifully seedy,
We’re noise.

When history comes to its logical conclusion
And we’ve all gone through
The crucible of evolution
Who’ll be left standing?
Who will be sloughed?
Who’ll be the gold dust,
And who’ll be the dross?
Could it be us? Could it be us?
You know which side
Always writes history, boys?
Well, I’ve got a feeling we’ve already lost,
We’re noise.
