I've just read a review of The God Delusion to which I'd like to post a link here, because I'm far too lazy to even attempt to write anything this good myself, and in all likelihood, no, would not be able to anyway.
If you don't want to read the entire thing, here's the conclusion, which seems very good to me:
It is diversity that makes any natural system robust, and diversity that stabilizes culture against the eccentricity and arrogance that have so often called themselves reason and science.
PS. Plain, and merely half a sentence, but this is also worth quoting:
The gravest questions about the institutions of contemporary science seem never to be posed…
And yes, because if anything will destroy the world and the human race, it is science.
