A hatful of tears

This is currently my favourite song apart from Mama Lay Softly on the Riverbed and anything by Kodagain:

I've been slowly going through the other Shelly Fabares songs, but can't find any that are quite as good as this. Still, it can't be a one-off, can it? It seems to be a b-side, too. I misheard one of the lyrics as, "Got a hatful of tears and I'm gonna weep them". The Lyricsmania website tells me that it's actually "a heart full of tears". I suppose that makes more sense. Lyricsmania also gives this as one of the couplets:

Stolen kisses in the hidden cove
Whatever happened to those dreams we'd hold?

I heard it as "those dreams we wove", which is surely better. I think I might have heard correctly, too. Maybe I'm even correct about the "hatful".

This is such a great song, I feel she must have done other stuff to match this. (Also, she's Annette Funicello's best friend.) The closest I've found so far is Funny Face:

Actually, this one is pretty good, too. It has something of that Return I Will to Old Brazil (is that the title?) song about it.

Here's Kate Bush smoking:

I once had a dream in which I scrounged a cigarette off Kate Bush. It was great.
