I finally got round to finishing the Tartarus edition of The Collected Strange Stories of Robert Aickbon a while back. I keep meaning to write something about it. I wonder if I ever actually will. For now, I shall list the stories that most stuck in my mind (perhaps getting the titles wrong here and there):
Choice of Weapons
Your Tiny Hand Is Frozen
The Hospice
The Swords
The Same Dog
The Unsettled Dust
Marriage
Letters to the Postman
The Wine-Dark Sea
Residents Only
My Poor Friend
The Visiting Star
Ravissante
The Fetch
Into the Wood
Never Visit Venice
It's very tempting just to list all of them, but I'll stop here, even though I've left off many excellent stories.
(PS. If Robert Aickbon and Lady Gaga were forced by aliens into the ring for a gloves off, freestyle poetry slam and dance-off challenge, who would win? My money would be on Aickbon.)

Thank you. His voice doesn’t sound incongruous with my image of him.
Peter A Leonard writes:No, he sounds almost exactly as I’d imagined.
Aickbon is God.
Leigh Blackmore writes:Hey everyone, that’s “Aickman” not “Aickbon”.
‘Aickbon’ is the posthumous honorific name.
