Now Do You Understand?
Yes, it’s true, I could have put you
Straight on a few things, a long, long time ago,
But why even try when you were clearly dying so
To believe the very worst about me,
Just like every other human being
That I’ve known, or will know?
While giving me the third degree, slowly,
You come to realise who’s been on your side
All along, and now you’re visibly preparing to swallow
Your pride and accept my long-standing request
Of some old yesterday. Please
Spare me the apologies. Forget it.
I think I’ve seen enough.
