All God’s Angels, Beware!

I dare say I've already posted under this title. I just wanted to state that All God's Angels, Beware! is actually available for pre-order now. According to the site, the release date is July. I think this is fairly firm, although, as you may know, publishing is a dilatory business.

The reason that the date is so late (and the price is higher than the other books) is that this book will physically be huge. I could have split this up into two or three volumes, but I didn't, because I was thinking of the reader. And what thanks do I get? Fucking none, as usual, that's what.

  1. Ah, I do get some thanks. I am mollified. Feel free to order as many copies as you like…(Naturally, you’re under no obligation to.)It does appear as if lack of response has caused drop in print run, delay in release etc. I am actually deeply wounded by this. There’s obviously some weird disjunction of perception taking place between myself and the rest of the world. It’s curious.

  2. With the book being released in July, do you think a pre-order would reach Australia by the begining of August? There’s no mention of delivery times on the site…

  4. Ah, good question. I’m afraid I’m not able to guarantee that personally. There is an e-mail address for enquiries, though. Hang on, I’ll just find it.

  5. Here it is:[email protected] the time of writing, there is a bug on the website that shows up on my computer, but may not show up on some. Apparently something in the coding in the site attempts to open the Adobe program on the computer. I’ve spoken to the website’s designer about this. He’s aware of the bug, says it’s harmless and that he will fix it.Thanks for your interest. Please excuse my huffiness in the above entry. I think I’m getting over the frustration.

  6. Frustation? I should have edited the comment as I did think of looking for a contact email on the publishers site afterwards. But thank you for looking as it’s reminded me to actually email them.

  7. Disenchanted perhaps? I did get a response, so I’ll risk it and hopefully it will reach me before I leave Australia. If not it’ll be on next year’s reading list =]

  8. Well, thanks for taking an interest. I really hope it does get to you before you leave. Bon voyage, for wherever you’re going, or buji ni, as they say in Japan. I think I am disenchanted, yes. I watched the film Capote last night, perhaps appropriately in some ways. Sometimes I think that the only part of the business of writing that is not sordid is the solitary part of either actually writing the text, or, at the other end, reading it. But I suppose the world’s like that in all things. Anyway, after having felt… dispirited, shall we say, I return like Lawrence of Arabia after his capture and humiliation to do…Well, we shall see.
