  1. Nice post, I was a big fan of The Smiths in the eighties and often their music can be heard here, still. Thanks for those b-sides, that were unknown to me. I never really followed Morrissey after the split. Maybe time for a catching up maneuver.

  2. Thank you.Opinion seems to be very much divided over Morrissey’s solo career. I do have friends who were very much into The Smiths who look at me with sympathy, as if I have an ailment of some kind whenever they are confronted with the fact that I still follow Morrissey’s music career. I think often these are people who have grown up, settled down, had children, begun to see the good in the human race, emotionally matured, surrendered the extreme views and the bitterness of their youthful days…I haven’t.I even think the latest album is pretty good.

  3. In my case it’s more a sad fact of loosing track of it, no longer visiting the clubs etc.I did follow the first steps of his solo carreer and well, Morrissey is Morrisey, it’s the Smiths without Johnny Marr.

  4. Morrissey is Morrisey, it’s the Smiths without Johnny Marr.I think Morrissey would probably say something similar (and has done). I do think Marr’s contribution was very significant, though. There was a mournful, eerie quality even to the upbeat stuff he did that matched the monochrome covers of the records perfectly. It wasn’t just sweet, and it wasn’t just ‘rocking’. Thanks for those b-sides, that were unknown to me.I think that Morrissey hides some of his best songs away as B-sides. As long as he can go on producing songs like those above, I’m a very interested listener.
